How to Win at Heroes of Mavia
Playcore Gaming Guide
Heroes of Mavia is an AAA web3 mobile base-builder game built by Skrice Studios and backed by Binance Labs, Delphi Digital and Kick Streaming.
After launching earlier this month on both iOS and Android, it has since dominated store rankings and raked in over 1M downloads worldwide.
The game revolves around building, protecting, and attacking bases. As players rise through the ranks, enemy bases and missions get tougher and more rewarding. In order to succeed, a player must have tactical prowess in battles, skills at gathering resources (gold, oil, and Ruby, the game’s earn-only currency), as well as a well-thought-out base.
Let’s take a closer look at these tips you can use to win:
1. Know your army
You’ll need the right army to successfully complete your raid enemy bases and complete your missions.
Depending on your headquarters’ level, you’ll be able to recruit infantry, aircraft, and hero units.
Take the time to study the attack preferences and priorities of your units. This will influence how they will behave while in battle and will dictate your probabilities of winning.
2. Army deployment and timing are key
How and when you place your units on the field are just as important.
You’ll need to place each unit on the battlefield based on their strengths and preferences, as well as perfect the timing of deployment in order to maximize the course of an attack or defense.
Look out for enemy heroes! Lure them out of the base first and then attack them outside of the reach of turrets and other defensive structures.
3. Don’t waste troops
Conserve units during attacks and missions.
Avoid unnecessary deployment of more troops than what is necessary to conquer a structure or complete a mission. This will save you oil as well as some time in recruiting.
4. Go on missions to get bonus resources
Although it’s not as obvious on screen, there is a menu under the Battle page that contains missions. Each mission generously rewards you with gold and oil once successfully completed- enough to give you that boost to upgrade your headquarters!
5. Know when and when not to break your shield
Your shield is your best defense when you need to go offline but have already amassed a hefty amount of resources for the next upgrade. Attacking other bases will break your shield, while going on missions won’t. Attack other bases only when your shield is about to expire and you’ve already put your resources to productive use.
6. Attack enemy bases with a clear goal in mind
While in lower levels, looting resources is of utmost importance as you need it to set up and upgrade your base. This means that getting those stars and trophies may not be as important in the beginning. But once you’ve already gained a strong footing and want to climb the ranks, getting those stars and trophies should become your priority regardless of the loot you’ll get. The higher your rank is, chances are you’ll be paired with even more difficult opponents!
7. Design your base with purpose
Align your base design with your priorities, whether it's climbing the ranks and protecting your headquarters, or safeguarding your collectors and storage. Note that the collectors and rigs will accumulate resources while you’re away, so make sure to protect them when you’re away for a long time! You can protect these collectors instead of protecting storage units when the storage units are already empty. Again, flexibility in base design is key as you progress through the game.
Now, how to build a good base? Below are 4 useful tips when you’re just starting out:
1. Play the defensive at lower HQ levels
For players that have just started out, prioritize protecting and upgrading your turrets. This will make your base less attractive to other players. Once you’ve unlocked walls, use them to protect your defenses against strikers.
2. The power of walls
Walls act as the first line of defense, delaying enemy units and providing critical moments for defensive structures to eliminate attackers. Study how best to place walls on your base so you can channel enemy units into traps or disrupt army dynamics from staying on course.
3. Use non-combat structures as decoy
Buildings such as rally points and laboratories can be used to protect the perimeter of your base. More than that, you can place them to control enemy pathing too, leading enemies directly into the line of fire. Another option is to place these structures in odd points of the map, so units get distracted from the critical path. Note each building’s hitpoint (HP) too as this can dictate for how long the attackers spend on a specific area.
4. Know the range of your heroes and defenses
Once you get to higher HQ levels, you’ll be able to unlock Mira and other heroes. You can place her at the center of your base in order to maximize her range or coverage. At lower levels, mortars are normally placed at the center. From there you can channel enemy units into a certain path, taking advantage of their split focus on different structures.
